Gaio

Gaio

appears on a Monsieur Connard release

A child who dreams to fly, a flamenco dancer, a mad conductor – Gaïo is that all. Taping his feet on Spanish rhythms or beating a jammam for an beat-box parenthesis, he knows how to make you embrace his influences and takes you to his world. Sailing on sweet folk melodies and jumping reggae riffs, his vessel could have Devendrah Banhart, Asaf Avidan and Janis Joplin as co-captains. His voice, once high-pitched and limpid as a mermaid, can suddenly gain the warmth and huskiness of a lone wanderer. And as he weaves his web, he takes his audience at the very crossroads of his inspirations.
