Best-known as the lead vocalist of
Hooverphonic,
Geike Arnaert recorded eight studio albums with one of Belgium's most popular pop acts before leaving for a solo career in 2008. Born in Heuvelland in 1978, she first tested the waters by duetting with legendary crooner
Bobbejaan Schoepen on the historical French song "Le Temps des Cerises." She also guested on records by
Ozark Henry,
Flip Kowlier, and
Tom Helsen before teaming up with Dutch singer/songwriter
Spinvis for the soundtrack to the Belgian film Adem (the duo issued additional recordings under the guise of Dorleac). In 2011,
Geike released her debut studio effort, For the Beauty of the Confusion. "Zoutelande," a 2017 single by
BLØF that featured her on vocals, reached the peak of the Dutch Top 40 and prompted her to begin recording again.
Geike worked with
Joost Zweegers of
Novastar and producer
Wouter Van Belle for her second album, 2019's
Lost in Time, featuring the single "Off Shore." ~ Jon O'Brien
