Born
Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr.,
Tommy Rogers is most notably known as the frontman for experimental metalcore outfit
Between the Buried and Me. As the band was preparing to record another album, he felt the time was right to direct his creative energy into a drastically different musical endeavor than
BTBAM. This side project came to light in the form of
Giles. Writing the record in his time off from touring,
Rogers took the chaos of his primary band, but instead of producing intricate metal, tapped into his love of electronic music. He cited influences such as
Fischerspooner,
Nine Inch Nails, and
Adult., and the album was referred to by issuing label Victory Records as a "combination of electroclash and industrial music written with a metal mentality."
Rogers wrote and self-produced the album with
Jamie King lending a hand in recording and mixing. The self-titled effort was issued in April 2005. ~ Corey Apar
