Hawaii's Christian Mochizuki, aka
GRAVES, is an in-demand DJ and electronic producer known for his sophisticated, hip-hop-influenced progressive house style. A native of Honolulu, Mochizuki first came to prominence after working as an engineer on
Kanye West's Grammy Award-winning 2010 album
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Also during this period, he earned credits on albums by
Kid Cudi,
Justin Bieber,
Big Sean, and others. After parting ways with
West in 2013, he formed the short-lived EDM outfit OOF, with whom he won the 2014 EDC Discovery Project. Disbanding OOF, Mochizuki adopted the name
GRAVES and began working to expand his creative vision. He started releasing tracks online and quickly garnered a fan base for his kinetic, atmospheric, and often experimental sound. In 2017 he released his debut EP, Hilo, featuring collaborations with
Boombox Cartel, Hex Cougar, Lil Traffic, and others. The following year, he issued the singles "Easy" and "I'm Fine," continuing into 2019 with "Glass Hearts (How Much You Mean)." ~ Matt Collar
