With a passion for music since a very young age, and a musicology minor degree, IBK started experimenting with music production software and apps including GarageBand and Auxy Pro as early as 2008. His favorite works during that period include unreleased tracks such as "We Don't Know," "Cosmix," and "Consonant," which are all available on his SoundCloud page, The Eclectic Hub. After picking up basic music production skills through these apps, in May 2020, he upgraded to more sophisticated systems that included Ableton Live and the Arturia KeyLab Essential 49 MIDI controller. These provided him with significant musical range and flexibility. During this phase, IBK discovered an untapped gift for lyrical composition and flow, and since then, has continued to produce and mix his own tracks. His notable projects during this period include "Coz I'm Yours," "Dream Girl," and "My Way Out." His evolution as a musician and producer is just in the early stages.
Describing his musical style as highly eclectic, IBK has been heavily influenced by his Nigerian culture, classical music training in voice and piano, as well as several popular musical artistes. His musical influences span various musical genres, and a truly exhaustive list would be too long to share. In keeping with his African roots, rhythm is central to his musical style, with afrobeat favorites such as Fela Anikulapo Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Lagbaja, D'banj, Wizkid, and Davido having significant impact on him. His top North American musical influences include Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, JAY-Z, and The Weeknd, in that order - depending on the day or month. However, Michael Jackson remains his indisputable number one influence.
A medical doctor by training - with a neuroscience background -, IBK truly believes in the power of music as medicine, andlooks forward to creating more musical pills for your ears to swallow. Connect with him on his SoundCloud, artiste pages, and social media to stay updated on new projects.
