Ingrid

Artist

Rapper, singer, songwriter and visual artist Ingrid Burley hails from the Third Ward neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The granddaughter of one of the city’s beloved jazz musicians, Ingrid inherited an innate love for the arts at an early age. At just 11, Ingrid began her journey into the music industry as a writer and member of a local girl group. She would eventually establish Yung Moguls Inc., a creative collective responsible for inspiring fashion and music events throughout Houston – providing Ingrid with career-defining opportunities to open for then-emerging artists Drake, J. Cole, Wale and Wiz Khalifa.
After successfully releasing four mixtapes (IB3 Unplugged, Honorable Mention,The Blueprint Too, 45’67: Outta my Mind) and building a solid fan base in Houston, Ingrid decided to make a move to Brooklyn, New York in 2010 equipped with only three bags and $5,000 in her pocket. Defying the expectations of a “starving artist,” Ingrid made a living by selling her paintings on NYC streets and collaborating with creative communities throughout the city. Ingrid has since worked with some of the music industry’s most sought after producers and songwriters, and recognized as a cultural tastemaker by publications including Cosmopolitan, Brooklyn Magazine, and Elle. Continuing her creative journey quite literally, in 2015, Ingrid made the decision to return to her hometown to reconnect with the history and culture of the Houston hip-hop scene and to prepare for her upcoming release.
Ingrid cites J.Cole, Kanye West, MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill, and Tupac asher biggest influences musically. Currently, Ingrid is writing and recording her first project, scheduled for release later this year.
