Led by
Travis Scott,
JackBoys advances the Grammy-nominated rapper/producer's Cactus Jack Records with DJ
Chase B and label signees
Sheck Wes and
Don Toliver. Rooted in the streets of Houston and New York, the collective made their self-titled debut at the end of 2019, and shortly thereafter topped the Billboard 200.
While he was riding high with numerous platinum singles and the chart-topping success of his second album,
Birds in the Trap Sing Brian McKnight,
Scott launched
Cactus Jack in 2017 to develop and connect other artists, each one of whom would sign separate joint deals with major labels. During 2017 and 2018, the
Cactus Jack logo imprinted
Scott and
Quavo's
Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho (a number three hit),
Scott's solo
Astroworld (his second number one album), and
Sheck Wes'
Mudboy (including the
Astroworld contributor's Top Ten hit "Mo Bamba"). After
Don Toliver (another artist featured on
Astroworld) and Luxury Tax were added to the
Cactus Jack roster,
Scott and company put together the self-titled debut of
JackBoys, issued through
Cactus Jack and Epic the last week of 2019.
Young Thug,
Quavo,
Offset, and
Pop Smoke each made an appearance, while
Rosalía and
Lil Baby were featured on a remix of
Scott's "Highest in the Room" (the original version had topped the Hot 100). The seven-track release entered the Billboard 200 at number one. ~ Andy Kellman
