Jay Cav

Hailing from the 9th Ward in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jay Cav is an independent artist whose style blends eccentric with mainstream. Jay Cav started his career early, recording at the age of sixteen and gaining recognition when his singles, “Favorite Song” and “Gimme Some,” landed on radio stations throughout Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. He soon caught the attention of some of the industry’s top entertainers and went on to become the opening act for multiple mainstream artists, such as Mystikal.

In 2011, Jay Cav took a break from music in order to pursue acting in Los Angeles, California. While there, his exposure to the Los Angeles fashion scene eventually sparked a newfound passion. Upon his return to New Orleans in 2013, Jay Cav decided to work on building his own clothing brand. This led to the development of his globally recognized clothing company, LAX ONLY. Being involved in the fashion industry had a huge impact on his music and helped him to reinvent his sound. With a new spark of motivation, Jay Cav returned to his music in 2018.

Pairing together freestyling skills with the ability to compose elements of a song in his head, Jay Cav enjoys pulling inspiration from multiple sources while also crafting his music organically. Hearing a simple mumble or tap might easily provide a melody that could be used to create a song or aid in the development of one of his killer choruses. While Jay Cav can roll with the direction of where music is heading now as far as the mainstream sound, he still experiments with levels of music in an idiosyncratic manner that is true to his style. Not only does Jay Cav have big plans for his music career as becoming a cross-genre star, but he also wants to shed light on the talent in his city.
