London-based quintet
JC Flowers formed in 2014, inspired by
the Free Design, vintage power pop, and
the Velvet Underground. Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Tim Garratt, vocalist Issie Spurgeon (who also played keyboards in the band
Novella), guitarist Noel Anderson, bassist/vocalist Edgar Smith, and drummer Seth Pimlott, the group began by recording some demos on an old four-track Tascam recorder. They released their first song, "Proletarieterette," in April of 2015 and played their first show in June. Both the recording and their live set were so impressive that by the end of the year they were playing the ATP festival and signed to ATP's record label. The group's debut album,
Driving Excitement and the Pleasure of Ownership, was issued in May of 2016 and featured their relaxed take on

David Bowie's classic "China Girl." ~ Tim Sendra
