Jidenna

Jidenna Theodore Mobisson (born April 5, 1985) is an American recording artist from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He is signed to Janelle Monae's Wondaland Records and in 2015 released two singles, "Classic Man" and "Yoga."

The youngest of four siblings, Jidenna was born in Wisconsin to an American mother and Nigerian father, and has lived in both countries. Jidenna's name means 'embrace the father' in the Igbo language.

Jidenna founded a rap group in high school, which is when he began producing, arranging and writing music. He attended Stanford University from 2003 to 2008, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, before pursuing a career music full-time.

In February 2015, he released his first single, "Classic Man", featuring fellow Wondaland signee Roman GianArthur. The song received heavy rotation throughout the United States, and was later remixed and given video treatment, with the featured vocals of Kendrick Lamar. In March 2015, Wondaland released the joint single "Yoga," credited to Janelle Monae and Jidenna.

Jidenna has listed KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane among his major influences.
