Marking the 90’s Indonesian music scene, Jikustik is known by their collection of love songs. Now, the band is back with their new members.
Formed in February 26, 1996, started with bunch of kids playing together: Pongki Barata (vocal, guitar), Icha (bass, vocal), Dadi (guitar), Adhit (keyboard) and Carlo (drums) under the name of G-Coustic. The G itself taken from Geronimo FM, a local radio station that has big part of the band’s early career. With the help of the radio, two of their early songs “Berdua Lagi” and “Seribu Tahun Lamanya” spread widely amongst the ears of young people in Jogjakarta.
In 1999, they released their independent debut album entitled Bulan di Jogja. The album contains various songs such as "Bulan di Pangkuan", "Bersanding Denganmu", "Rie...", "Menunggumu Pulang", "Seribu Tahun Lamanya", "Separuh Hati", "Didera Hujan", and "Adinda". Produced by Woodel’s production, this album brought the bands to Warner Music Indonesia. The label signed the band, new major-debut entitled Seribu Tahun released, and the band changed their name into Jikustik.
Along with their fellow band mates, like Sheila on 7 and The Rain, Jikustik has been widely known by Indonesian music scene in the 90’s, especially by their poetic-love-songwriting like With songs like “Seribu Tahun Lamanya", "Maaf", "Saat Kau Tak Disini (SKTD)", "Setia", "Tak Ada Yang Abadi", "Pandangi Langit Malam Ini", "Menggapaimu", and "Akhiri Ini Dengan Indah" which crafted by Pongki and Icha.
Along their careers in Warner Music, Jikustik has released 6 albums. After their album Malam [2008], Pongki left the band in 2010. The band signed out from Warner and after one year, they met Brian Prasetyoadi as their new vocalist. In 2011, new label from Jakarta, Seven Music signed Jikustik for their next album, Kembali Indah. This album contains hit single “Pujaan Hatiku”.
In 2012, Icha, the bass player, left the group. The band’s friend Abadi Bayu join as the new bass player.
Now with the new line ups, Jikustik is back again with their new single entitled “Bila Ada Cinta Yang Lain”
