John Marascalco

John Marascalco

Songwriter John Marascalco had a hand in some of the big R&B and rock hits of the 1950s and '60s, including songs he co-wrote with Robert "Bumps" Blackwell for Little Richard like "Good Golly Miss Molly" and "Rip It Up." Another hit written by the duo, "Ready Teddy," has been recorded by such rock legends as Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Marascalco has also co-written songs with Fats Domino ("Be My Guest"), George Mottola ("Goodnight, My Love"), and Scott Turner. He and Turner collaborated on songs for Harry Nilsson, such as "I Just Ain't Right" and "Building Me Up," both of which appear on the albums Nilsson '62: The Debut Sessions and Early Tymes. Marascalco and Nilsson also wrote songs together, including "Baby Baby" and "Born in Grenada." Other popular songs penned by him are "Goodnight My Love," "Heeby Jeebies," "Send Me Some Lovin'," and "She's Got It." Marascalco tunes have been recorded by everybody from Little Richard to Creedence Clearwater Revival to the Stray Cats. © Joslyn Layne /TiVo
