Boasting an ear for indie pop hooks and lush, ornate arrangements,
Josh Ottum made his songwriting debut in 2007 with the release of
Like the Season. Culled from a wealth of music
Ottum had written in his Seattle bedroom, the album was recorded with the help of
James McAlister and
Casey Foubert, both of whom had previously worked with another pop-minded songwriter,
Sufjan Stevens.
Ottum continued to tour during the following years, and the international release of
Like the Season in Europe netted him positive reviews from British magazines like Uncut and NME. Meanwhile, his American audience grew as MTV placed his music in several of the network's programs. ~ Andrew Leahey
