JSP is a multi-faceted artist from Toronto. Growing up in a distinct household, he was surrounded by 90’s Hip Hop and R&B with a mix of Soca and Calypso. JSP drew inspiration from the likes of D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, and Shaggy which shaped his unique songwriting. JSP has found a delicate balance between a lush and energetic cadence paired with an honest intimacy. He designs his records to provoke the imagination with alluring emotion. His narration often details life’s intricacies and unapologetically lays out his own raw truth. Early onto his career, under a previous group name, JSP released a single "See You In The Morning" that was directed by Karena Evans. As a multi-faceted artist, JSP’s interest in storytelling and film around mental health manifested into writing and directing his first short film "Perspective" which attained federal recognition by the Government of Canada. JSP’s latest single “Don’t Worry” gained radio rotation and garnered attention from publications; SIDEDOOR, PUI & Whenimakeittola. JSP’s intention is to create nostalgic environments while blending defiant cadences, blurring lines between traditional soul and new age R&B. Showcasing his vulnerability, he allows risk to take its own shape. By providing soothing soundscapes & an influx of energy, JSP asks you to find comfort in the unknown, unfamiliar, and unexpected.
