Konishiki

Konishiki

World-renowned for his skills on the sumo mat, champion Polynesian wrestler Konishiki steps into the music arena with his debut album KMS. Though previous episodes of athletes attempting to be hip-hop stars have proven somewhat questionable (see Shaq, 1985 Chicago Bears, etc.), Konishiki defeats all skeptics with strong but easygoing rhymes set to varied production. Smooth and catchy West Coast beats, flamboyant synthesizers and dense basslines set the tone for lyrics about living large on an island paradise. His record also features impressive forays into R&B, Reggae and spoken word, as well as an appearance from Bone Thugs' speed-rapper Layzie Bone.
