Blending classical and folk elements from India with Western melodies and subtle pop sensibilities,
Mpath is a collaboration between producers Markus Mitchell and
Gardner Cole. Mitchell has a long history of producing worldbeat albums and
Cole has issued several solo recordings as well as writing numerable pop hits, most notably "Open Your Heart" by
Madonna. Their first album,
Meeting Rivers, was released in 2002 and featured performances from renowned sarangi player
Ramesh Misra, violinist
Lili Haydn, and sitar player Indrajit Banerjee. The second
Mpath record, Wanderer, was released the following year. ~ Wade Kergan
