When Noisey premiered the song "Strange Darling" by LA-based singer/songwriter Miya Folick, they introduced it as 'smacking of porch-stories and a dram of whiskey as the sun sets' and compared her to Cat Power and Sharon Van Etten. She grew up in a Buddhist home in Santa Ana, California, studied theater in college and finds inspiration in classical choral music as much as in Joni Mitchell, Folick is an artist that goes very own ways. She's brave, emotive, raw and self-confessional, and judging from her still fresh EP Strange Darling, Miya Folick is about to place herself alongside the artists mentioned here.
