MLKMN

MLKMN

Oscar Botello

He has 40 tattoos, sponsored by Vans, his track "Fresco" was featured in GTA IV, he’s allergic to milk (preferring almond milk, instead), was able to rent an apartment (with no furniture) from the money he made opening up for Kayne West in Mexico, and is leading the charge in shifting culture.
There is not much that is very orthodox about MLKMN (aka MLK).
Born to struggling Pentecostal preacher parents in Monterey, Mexico, MLKMN (born Oscar Botello). Ataroundtheage4,lafamiliaMLKMNrelocatedtoHouston,Texastoseekbetter opportunities in the U.S. He graduated high school and then did just four semesters at a nearby college.
In spite of living in a first generation Mexican household, MlK was exposed to hiphop and R&B at an early age. His musical inspirations are Kayne, Selena, Pharrell, Nirvana, Bun B, Audio 2, Led Zeppelin, and Nine Inch Nails.MLK’s musical start was as an R&B singer, then he formed a punk band. However, he became attracted to music production. Eventually, he decided to go back to the mic.
Despite pursuing his dreams in music, he was provided acting opportunities and landed himself a major role in the indie flick, IPromise You Anarchy, where he plays a blood trafficker.
MLK’s main purpose in hiphop is to influence “culture and help change the world’s views on Latinos.” If change is MLK’s goal,he is well on his way, having worked and shared the stage with the likes of Toy Selectah, El Dusty, and 3ball MTY. He’s been sought out by M.I.A., iDiplo, Mila J, Motel, Emilio Rojas, Belinda, Disco Ruido, She'sATease, Trapzillas, Happy Colors, and Houston great, Scarface.
If the range and styles of musicians he’s collaborated with surprises you, it reflects his past and present. “I just wanted to have a record that reflects the border, where it’s a mix of Southern hiphop, Cumbia, and Tejano.” MLK is bringing together his vision in a big way. Last year, he worked on remixes for Ariana Grande and The Weeknd.
MLKMN has released a couple of projects, FRESCO and Milkstape. MLK plans to release another project for his budding fan base at the end of 2015. MLKMN is executive produced through MeccaLani and distributed through Machete Music/Universal Music Latin Entertainment. MLKMN will release his first radio single called “RIP” featuring Mila J on October 30, 2015.
