Old Yron were one of Italy's first heavy metal bands, having started out playing covers in and around their hometown of Venice as far back as 1974, and then laboring in anonymity for nigh on a decade before splitting up amid the persistent public indifference to their efforts. But guitarist Antonio Ferrari duly decided to give it one more shot and recruited vocalist Julian Ceniazzo, bassist Maurizio Cavallario, and drummer Max Canini for another, mostly fruitless five-year stretch that eventually culminated in the recording of a few tracks, released as 1989's Old Yron EP, which was pressed in a limited edition of 1,000 vinyl copies. However, even this proved far too inaccessible and poorly recorded to advance Old Yron's career (if you can call it that) in any way, prompting the departure of all involved, save for founding member Ferrari, who persisted off and on for the ensuing decades until convincing Shadow Kingdom Records to release the band's 1989 recordings on CD. © Eduardo Rivadavia /TiVo
