Picard Brothers

Picard Brothers

Picard Brothers: Clément and Maxime. If you haven’t heard their names, then you’ve definitely heard the music they make. They’ve played pivotal parts in the creation of records by Beyoncé, Diplo, Mark Ronson and Madonna, and have a slew of solo singles to their own name too. If you look at the liner notes for some of your favourite songs of the past few years, you’ll find that Maxime and Clément have played a key part in their creation. Electricity by Silk City and Dua Lipa? They both wrote it with Diplo, Mark Ronson and co. Tracks on Madonna’s 10th studio record, Madame X? The boys played a hand in those too. Being around Mark and Diplo has also given them the scope to bring things closer to home again and make more material for themselves. They talk about the ‘texture’ of music, and how it plays into their new songs: slamming, soulful house records they just want people to party to. “It’s tricky” they say when asked to describe their own sound. “Working on so many different projects with artists, we always think: what would make sense for them? So now we’ve asked ourselves the same question.” They’re paying homage to those who came before them; toying with a classic formula that works for the masses. “We think we owe it to a past era,” they say. “But it’s not a basic tribute – it’s combined with another thing: feeling.”
