Pink Oculus

Pink Oculus

Since she released Sweat, the singer/songwriter/mc/producer Pink Oculus has gone from strength to strength. She made a huge impact at Eurosonic Noorderslag 2014, and was subsequently acclaimed 3FM Serious Talent. With her widely admired single under her belt, she was in demand for the rest of the year. In Holland, Belgium, Germany and the UK, a career launch like few others. Having caught the attention of Studio Brussel’s LEFTO, she was invited to sing at Stromae’s after programme in Heineken Music Hall, while soul singer Joss Stone presented Pink Oculus in her Total World Tour documentary. Praise also came from Grammy nominee Hiatus Kaiyote. Overdue, the follow-up to her widely admired single Sweat was presented in 7-inch format at soul phenomenon D’Angelo’s after shows in Paradiso. BIOGRAPHY Pink Oculus was an African magician who lived in Mali in the 1400s. Her most famous magical trick was the exploding elephant’s foot. That performance resulted in her being given sole responsibility for entertainment in the royal palace during King Mansa Musa’s glorious reign. Centuries later, her famous trick was to inspire David Copperfield’s own Statue of Liberty vanishing act. This information – which is not widely known – comes from a descendant of Pink Oculus, street fighter and martial arts aficionado Kimbo Slice.
