Artist, Contributor

Artist and producer RØRSTAD is the latest Norwegian musical export. He adds to the wave of interesting and catchy electronic music that has steadily made its way across the Norwegian borders the past few years. His fresh take on electronic pop is influenced by music ranging from classical music to techno, r’n’b and hiphop.

RØRSTAD has always been drawn to contradictions and contrasts. He grew up on a small island where the climate was rough and everything cultural was imported and scarcely available. Consequently, his early influences were all over the map: He was listening to Samantha Fox and Pink Floyd while studying classical guitar and playing in a band.
He later moved to the States where he studied classical composition and conducting, while at the same time experimenting in the studio with electronic music. He started his own orchestra and wrote his first symphony in 2011. In late 2012 he released the album Watch Out Lover, where he mixed electronic music with orchestral arrangements. The album was well received by the Norwegian press, titling RØRSTAD ‘the Baroque Pop Prince’
