Rosie Lowe is a singer and songwriter whose mostly downbeat material draws from R&B as much as contemporary electronic music. Born in Exeter, she had an unconventional upbringing -- she was raised in a wooden house built by her father that did not have a television. She studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she took a course in popular music and taught herself how to use production software. In 2013,
Lowe provided the vocals for
Lil Silva's single "No Doubt" and released the
Right Thing EP -- featuring collaborations with
Kwes. and
Dave Okumu -- on the 37 Adventures label. She then moved to
Paul Epworth's Polydor-supported Wolf Tone label and, during 2014 and 2015, knocked out a handful of singles highlighted by the
Machinedrum-produced "Worry Bout Us."
Control,
Lowe's debut album, arrived in February 2016. ~ Andy Kellman
