Scan X

Scan X

Scan X, with its real name Stéphane Dri, is a French composer, musician, remixer and sound engineer of electronic music. He is one of the pioneers of the French techno scene, and undoubtedly one of the most talented. His career began in 1993 with the release of several EPs on the famous label Fnac Music Dance Division, and then on the now mythical F communications label, where he produced two albums unanimously acclaimed by critics and audiences: «Chroma» in 1996 and «How To Make The Unpredictable Necessary» in 2003. As F Com goes to sleep, Stéphane released his productions on different records labels (Skryptom, Harthouse, Hertzblut ...), and signs after some original collaborations, the first reference of Volphonie in 2017. Each new composition confirms its maturity and precision in a unique style, blending a deeply cerebral universe with an implacable rhythm section. Many of his pieces are now considered as classics. But first of all Scan X is a «live» artist. He is one of the first French electronic musicians to have performed on stage with machines, and he still remains an undisputed reference in this field, one of the greatest «livers» in France. His performances have been acclaimed since his beginnings, and he has been elected several times «Best Live Techno International» by readers of the French and European specialised press. We are talking here about one of the masters of this kind, among the most discreet but also the most effective. Laurent Garnier was not mistaken, since Stéphane is his sound engineer appointed for about fifteen years. He follows the «French Techno Godfather» during the «Kleptomaniac Tour» and then on the LBS project, for which he performs more than 250 gigs in 30 countries. As a solo artist, Scan X performed more than 1,200 gigs in 40 countries, and has been exporting its music around the world for nearly 25 years at major festivals and clubs (Sonar, Time Warp, I Love Techno, Roskilde , Transmusicales, Berghain, Fuse, Rex Club, Fabric ...).
