New Orleans-based underground rapper
Scrim is known for his dark, edgy hip-hop. He first garnered attention as a member of the duo
$uicideboy$ before releasing his 2020 solo debut,
A Man Rose from the Dead.
Born Scott Anthony Arceneaux, Jr. in 1989 in Marrero, Louisiana,
Scrim (aka $lick $loth) became interested in music as a teenager listening to artists like
T-Pain and
Kanye West. He bought a laptop and began DJ'ing while attending Delgado Community College. In 2014, he formed
$uicideboy$ with his cousin, rapper Ruby da Cherry. They built a following online and in 2018, cracked the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 with their debut studio album
I Want to Die in New Orleans. The following year, they collaborated with
blink-182 drummer
Travis Barker on the EP
Live Fast, Die Whenever, which also featured contributions from
Korn guitarist
James Shaffer. In 2020,
Scrim made his solo debut with
A Man Rose from the Dead, recorded in Palm Desert, California and inspired by his journey to sobriety. ~ Matt Collar
