‘SHINee’ is a contemporary band with five members, JONGHYUN, MINHO, TAEMIN, ONEW, and KEY.
A contemporary band is a team that sets and leads trends in music, dance, fashion, and so on. Thus, ‘SHINee’ will not only present trendy music but also show contemporary styles especially in dance and fashion.
Also, the group’s name ‘SHINee’ is a new word that consists of ‘Shine’ followed by noun ending ‘ee’, which interprets to ‘a person who receives light’. This means a person who always receives light, i.e. the spotlight, encompassing SHINee’s strong aspiration to charm a wide range of music fans regardless of age and region (country) by pursuing a variety of music.
