Sila Lua (Vigo, 1997) is an artist and producer based in Madrid. Having just arrived in the city where she grew up after five years living in London, Sila inevitably plays between two worlds: Spanish Hip Hop and European experimental and electronic music. Her new track “Iris” is the last one in a series of songs inspired by female archetypes. “During the past year I have done the work of approaching ideas around femininity. I have borrowed mythological, historical or imaginary female figures that, by bringing them to my world, have allowed me to understand different perspectives of myself and of history ”, she tells us. Sila has been described as "a Martian diva of the new European dark pop." Her single “Quiero Llorar” was highlighted by Mexican artist Julieta Venegas as one of her favorite songs of 2019. Thanks to this song, the artist was on the cover of the playlist “Brand New: The Best New Artists”, curated by the british music magazine DUMMY. Her latest release “De Balde”, a bilingual song in Galician and Spanish with verses borrowed from the Galician poet Rosalía de Castro, was chosen song of the week by Red Bull Spain and included in the playlist “THE BEST NEW MUSIC” that the british magazine I+D updates every week.
