Single File are
Joe Ginsberg (bass/guitar),
Sloan Anderson (vocals/guitar/bass), and
Chris Depew (drums), who have been writing music together since high school, mainly playing jazz until forming a punk-pop band. The Denver trio self-recorded and released three EPs while going on a handful of national tours before recording its debut full-length in early 2006 with producer
Ed Rose (
Motion City Soundtrack,
the Get Up Kids).
Single File secured a spot on the Vans Warped Tour in summer 2006 with the LP release to follow. The album was tentatively titled Benson Shady Grove on the band's website and a release date for late 2006 was posted, but it remained unreleased for over a year while the band toured. In July 2007, the band unleashed a fourth EP,
No More Sadface. After two U.S. tours (one supporting
the Fray, the other supporting
Saves the Day),
Single File issued their first full-length album,
Common Struggles, on Reprise in April of 2009. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
