This R&B quintet from New Jersey may appear like other R&B groups such as Destiny's Child and
En Vogue, but their gospel roots help set them apart. Sunday is comprised of five ladies, ages 18 to 22: sisters Tawanda, Notasha, and
Tiffany, and their two cousins,
Shakira and Stacey. The quintet started singing together at the New Life Deliverance Church in Newark where their maternal grandmother was a pastor for 23 years. The girls caught the eye of Robyn Crawford, a long-time associate of
Whitney Houston, and Crawford signed them to a record deal. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2000. ~ Jon Azpiri
