Taeyang (태양)

With record sales exceeding ten million units the Korean pop sensation Taeyang is one of the foremost pop and R&B singers to emerge from South Korea. Born Dong Young-bae in 1988 he was brought up in the Gyeonggi-do province and, like many aspiring Korean pop artists, was nurtured under the guidance of YG Entertainment, joining their artist roster at the tender age of 12. He was drafted into Big Bang, one of the company's many boy band projects and the newly formed group made their debut in 2006. The band had a slow start but went on to become one of Asia's best selling digital artists eventually being ranked as one of the world's top selling boy bands.Taeyang launched his solo career in 2008 and began to develop his R&B style eventually having his first US number one with the 2014 single 'Eyes, Nose, Lips' which topped Billboard's Korean Chart.
