The peculiar folk-influenced stylings of
the Ghosts are created by
Mathew Sawyer. With an intricate assortment of guitars, banjos, mandolins, and horns, the one-man indie rock band has been bringing forth its own haunting, poetic love songs since 2005. When he isn't spending time jamming with locals on new
Ghosts tracks,
Sawyer can be found playing drums for
the Television Personalities and working at Duke of Uke, his vintage ukulele shop in his native London.
The Ghosts' debut album, Blue Birds Blood, was released in 2007 on Catbird.
How Snakes Eat followed on Fire Records in 2011. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
