Dennis Mitchell of
the Crack City Rockers was the impetus behind
the Quags. Acting as a side project during downtime with
Crack City Rockers, Mitchell enlisted the help of some fellow Portland, OR, musicians to recreate a classic rock sound and album. In 2001, the group entered the studio with a goal to pay tribute to influences ranging from
the Rolling Stones and
the Faces to
David Bowie and
the Kinks. In 2002,
the Quags released its debut album, Out in the Community, on Paisley Pop Records. The group has performed around the Portland club circuit and has garnered a loyal following. ~ Jason MacNeil
