Thick

Thick

New York City band

Brooklyn trio Thick cut their teeth in New York's all-ages D.I.Y. scene during the latter part of the 2010s, earning a devoted fan base with their spiky, energetic punk and rousing, cathartic melodies. After building up a buzz with a series of self-issued singles and EPs, the band landed a contract with high-profile punk imprint Epitaph, which released their debut full-length, 5 Years Behind, in 2020. Nikki Sisti (guitar, vocals), Kate Black (bass, vocals), and Shari Page (drums, vocals) began playing around their home base in Brooklyn in 2016, releasing their first two singles, "Anymore" and "It's Always Something," later that year. While many of their songs take aim at social and political issues, there is also an element of playfulness and wild joy in their uproar. After the independent Would You Rather? EP in 2018, Thick were picked up by Epitaph, which put out a self-titled EP in March of 2019. Working with producer Joel Hamilton (Iggy Pop, Tom Waits), they recorded their full-length debut, 5 Years Behind, which arrived in early 2020. © Timothy Monger /TiVo
