R&B singer and songwriter
Tiara Thomas, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and a graduate of Muncie, Indiana's Ball State University, set her music career in motion when she crossed paths with
Wale at an Atlanta club and handed the rapper a recording. This led to
Thomas opening for
Wale, as well as a contract with
Wale and Le'Greg O. Harrison's Board Administration.
Thomas appeared on "The Cloud," a track from
Wale's More About Nothing mixtape, prior to being featured on the rapper's 2013 single "Bad," which reached number three on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. The song eventually achieved gold status. That June, she left the Board Administration and joined producer and songwriter
Rico Love's Interscope-affiliated Division 1 label. In October, she released the five-song
Dear Sallie Mae EP. It was followed in 2014 by the single "One Night." ~ Andy Kellman
