Tobias Koch is a German pianist and composer. Raised in Kempen, he attended the Robert Schumann College of Music in Düsseldorf, and pursued further studies in Vienna, Graz, and Brussels. He attended master classes by
David Levine,
Roberto Szidon,
Jos van Immerseel and
Malcolm Bilson. He has appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Chopin Festival Warsaw, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Mendelssohn Days at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and the Schumannfest Düsseldorf.
Koch has performed with pianist
Andreas Staier, violinists
Joshua Bell,
Gottfried von der Goltz, and
Lena Neudauer, cellist
Steven Isserlis, and tenor
Markus Schäfer, and he has appeared as a soloist with
Concerto Köln,
Collegium 1704, and other ensembles.
Koch is devoted to the repair and restoration of historic instruments, and works closely with the Museum of Arts and Crafts, Hamburg, the Museum of Musical Instruments, Leipzig, the German Museum, Munich, the Händelhaushalle, the Vleeshuis Museum of Antwerp, and Clavierland in Kremsmünster, Austria.
Koch teaches at the Robert Schumann College of Music in Düsseldorf, the Gutenberg University in Mainz, and the Summer Academy in Montepulciano, Italy.
