The fever for all things Buena Vista Social Club has allowed other Cuban musicians to share in the considerable limelight -- one being Tony Martinez. This young sax player leads a smoking salsa-fied Afro-Cuban jazz band featuring a dizzying array of young talent, most notably Gonzalo Rubalcaba, a rising piano star currently in great demand with American musicians and audiences. Even though these tunes feature funky, extended jams, at heart this is dance marathon music that injects your backside with a jittering dose of the St. Vitus virus.
