Dutch indie rock outfit
Voicst formed in 2001 around the talents of vocalist/guitarist Tjeerd Bomhof, bassist/vocalist Sven Woodside, and drummer Joppe Molenaar. Hailing from the city of Amsterdam, the trio got together for a short time in 1994 as a school act, but it wasn’t until the 21st century that they became a proper band.
Voicst, whose high-energy guitar-driven sound has been compared favorably to artists like
Supergrass and
Nada Surf, released their debut album, 11-11, in 2004 on Dutch label Duurtlang Records. The album was released in the United States the following year, as well as in Japan and Australia. The band’s sophomore effort,
A Tale of Two Devils, arrived in 2008 on Play It Again Sam/Goodbusy Records. ~ James Christopher Monger
