Watts received his big break in 2021, when
Khalid re-recorded a version of "Feels" with the singer/songwriter.
A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jacob Watts was equally enamored with music, soccer, and skateboarding as he grew up. He played in a few bands in college but didn't take music seriously until his adulthood, when he relocated to Nashville to pursue a career, supporting himself by selling real estate.
Watts released "Feels" in 2018, and "Talk About You" and "Never Leave You" in 2019. Three additional songs -- "Lie Here with You," "Right, Alright," and "Get Up" -- arrived in 2020. Around this time
Khalid discovered "Feels" and contacted
Watts to convey his affection for the song. The pair developed a friendship which led to
Khalid duetting with
