Norway's
White Void make no bones about rooting their sound in the gray areas between gritty '70s hard rock and angular new wave and post-punk, and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their name is drawn from a concept by existentialist philosopher
Albert Camus about the absence of direction in line, and underscores their sound as one that pursues not a single, logical direction, but several simultaneously.
Anti, their debut album, was issued in 2021.
Led by vocalist and keyboardist Lars Nedland (
Borknagar,
Solefald),
White Void includes drummer Tobias Solbakk (
Ihsahn), electronica producer and bassist Vegard Kummen (Kubbi), and blues-rock guitarist and singer/songwriter Eivind Marum (MARVM). In 2020, they signed to
Nuclear Blast and issued the single "Do.Not.Sleep."
