Since the release of their 1989 debut EP that was a split with Lähtevät Junat, the Pori, Finland-based quintet of the Wolfmen have been playing out their garage punk romp of rock & roll that looks up to
the Stooges and
MC5. Consisting of Jallu Korpi (vocals), Zimi Söderberg (guitar), Moke Laine (drums), Mixa Huhdanpää (bass), and Elmo Koskinen (guitar), Hiljaiset Levyt Records eventually released their first full-length, entitled The Shadow War, in 1992. After their 1994 follow-up album
Brutal, Putte Seittonen took over on guitar duties for the 1997 departure of Zimi Söderberg. The following year, the Wolfmen's third album Urban Voodoo came out with a heavy theme of crime noir that was influenced by the non-musical likes of John Woo, Quentin Tarantino, and Frank Miller. ~ Mike DaRonco
