Artist, Contributor

Yi Lin Jiang's international childhood has prepared him for the life of a touring musician. Jiang was born in Munich, but spent his early childhood in China before the family returned to Germany and he began piano lessons. He performed a Haydn concerto at age ten, having already won a competition for young pianists a couple of years earlier. Jiang has studied at the Mozarteum with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, and in 2012 began working with Ewa Kupiec. He has won prizes in Germany and elsewhere for solo work and for chamber music, including one with his father, clarinetist Bin Wei Jiang. His participation in several music festivals has allowed him to play alongside or gain further encouragement from artists such as the Herbert Schuch, Amaryllis Quartet, the Szymanowski Quartet, and composer Toshio Hosokawa. Naturally, Jiang has performed in concert halls in both Europe and China, and for the Bayerischer Rundfunk and Österreichischer Rundfunk broadcasters. His first album, Masques, was released in late 2014 and featured solo works by Szymanowski, Scriabin, Debussy, and others. © Patsy Morita /TiVo
