Philadelphia's synth-infused, peppy rock act
Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer began in 2000 and has centered around core members
Vince Ratti (guitar, vocals) and Rachel Minton (vocals, keyboards). An early incarnation of the band had also included
Anthony Green, who would later front post-hardcore bands
Saosin and
Circa Survive. The band's first self-titled album was released via Wonka Vision/Break Even Records. In 2002, while doing a show with
My Chemical Romance, they were noticed by Eyeball Records. A deal with Eyeball resulted in the release of
Jalopy Go Far in 2003 and
The Popsicle EP in 2004. A self-released compilation of tracks was issued in 2005, and the summer was spent on the road with Reel Big Fish and American Hi-Fi. Reignition Records then issued a Zolof split EP alongside their old pals Reel Big Fish entitled Duet All Night Long in February 2007. By that point, Minton and Ratti were joined by drummer Rinaldo Sidky, bassist Matt Celeste and guitarist/handclapper Jason Wilson. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
