Following the Scottish pianist's third full-length release by a year (2018's Journey to Nidaros), the aptly titled Contemplations EP is Alexander Chapman Campbell's debut for the U.K.-based label Signum Records. A collection of solo piano pieces with track titles like "Remembering" and "Yearning," it doesn't deviate from his typically efficient, melancholy style, which relies heavily on arpeggiation and interpretive tempos while highlighting melody. The 22-minute set was recorded at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
