Steven Price's score for director Alfonso Cuaron's award-winning astronaut drama Gravity eschews the usual Hollywood soundtrack tropes like thundering percussion and carefully timed orchestral bursts for a more nuanced vision that reflects the sound vacuum that is outer space.
Price was originally only slated to spend a few weeks with Curaron as a musical advisor, but as the days progressed, his increasingly diverse template of sounds convinced the director to hire him to compose the score.
Gravity would go on to earn
