* En anglais uniquement

Alberto Ponce was a classical guitarist from Spain who later taught in France. He was taught to play by his father and then studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona and the Lisbon Conservatory. He became a teacher at the National Conservatory in Paris and created an influential school of classical guitar. Unconventionally, he devoted himself to both early music and contemporary music from guitarists such as Maurice Ohana. He was best known for his 'Oeuvres Pour Guitare'. His work influenced Maurice Ohana, Liat Cohen and Roland Dyens among many others. He died in July 2019 at the age of 84. © ©Copyright Music Story 2020
