Aldo Baerten is the principal flutist with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and professor of flute at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, as well as at the Hogeschool der Kunsten in Utrecht. From time to time, he is a guest flutist with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, I Fiamminghi, the European Union Opera, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. Baerten studied flute with Peter-Lukas Graf, Gaby van Riet, and Philippe Boucly. He was a prize winner in several competitions, including the Maria Canals in Barcelona 2001, Vienna 2004, Axion Classics, Quantz, and the National Instrument Competition of Belgium. He also received the Alex de Vries Prize, the SABAM Award, and the Caecilia Prize of the Belgian Music Press. Baerten has given master classes in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Mexico, and the United States, and has recorded for PentaTone, Phaedra, Cypres, ECM, Royale Belge, and René Gailly International. © TiVo
