A mix of warmly introspective indie rock and classic power pop,
Bird Streets is the musical vehicle of New York-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist
John Brodeur. A member of bands like the Suggestions and Maggie Mayday as well as an occasional solo artist,
Brodeur launched the
Bird Streets project with the help of
Jason Falkner (
Jellyfish,
Beck,
the Grays) in Los Angeles, releasing his first album in 2018.
Following the release of his 2013 solo album,
Little Hopes,
Brodeur spent some time in L.A. writing and recording a new group of songs with longtime friend
Falkner. He chose to name the project
Bird Streets, which represents a neighborhood in Hollywood Hills and also references the streets of his old hometown, Albany, New York. With
Falkner producing and splitting instrumental duties, the two completed
Bird Streets' self-titled debut over a period of two years in New York and L.A. It was released by Omnivore Records in August 2018. ~ Timothy Monger
