Under the name
Boy Willows, Maryland native Landon Fleischman creates an airy, chilled-out strain of bedroom pop that pits acoustic songwriting against ethereal synths and beats. A pair of EPs in 2018 and 2019 earned him a strong following thanks to highly streamed tracks like "Flawlessa" and the dreamy "Shallow Hot Springs." Signed to the Nettwerk Group,
Boy Willows continued releasing singles into the next decade with songs like 2021's "Tuff."
Fleischman grew up in suburban Maryland, where he began playing guitar at the age of eight. As he progressed, he took in a wide variety of influences from
the Kinks to
Sampha and
José González. After some experience producing and composing for film, he launched his career as
Boy Willows with the 2016 single "I'm Good." His dreamy ukulele and guitar mixed with chill pop beats on subsequent tracks like the streaming hit "Flawlessa" from his 2018 EP
Woods at Night. The winsome "Shallow Hot Springs" from 2019's
Oof EP also fared well on the streaming platforms, and he landed a deal with the Nettwerk Group. Now based in Los Angeles, he recorded the 2020 single "Fila" in collaboration with actor and singer
Dylan Minnette and followed it up a year later with "Tuff." ~ Timothy Monger
