Whilst still in the early stages of his career, Christopher Oliver aka Buffalo Tide, has garnered diverse music and art project work and press, including producing music for Kenzo, Hunter and for recently closed iconic Paris store, Colette. He has released music on cult London label No Pain In Pop as well as his own imprint BLBX; presenting an ambient mix for Dazed Digital and featuring in the NME (print and digital). As Buffalo Tide has played live performances with the likes of Holy Fuck, ARE Weapon, Slackk, Woman’s Hour, Doldrums, Slime, Preditah and oOoOO. Oliver has also presented his visual art in various group and solo shows, starting with "The Mysterious Function of Belief" at Lewisham Art House in 2014, to the group show 'Focal Point', curated by Marek Wolynski, featuring artists Darek Fortas, Kenji Hirasawa & Joanna Sperryn-Jones at Unit24 Gallery, London 2015. He was invited to be featured as part of the group show "Life, Death, Whatever" curated by Anna Lyons & Louise Winter for the national trust, featuring artists Laura Ford, Claudia Bicen, Philip & Oliver Eglin, French & Mottershead, Chairman Kato, Kate Linforth and Stella Vine, producing the sound-installation 'Know Your Beholder' at Sutton House in October 2016. In 2019 Oliver curated a solo exhibit titled “The Hypnogogic Archive” at Sassoon Gallery in Peckham, London, featuring four large scale ‘waterfall’ paintings with light fixtures, and a multi-media sculpture titled ‘‘Don’t Sleep”. In December 2020 he presented “Road of Trials” at Stone Space Gallery in London. A mixed media sculpture which, due to the Corona Virus pandemic, could be viewed remotely by the general public, from the exterior of the gallery. It featured a scannable QR code outside the gallery, allowing the viewer access to a unique piece of music composed by the artist, to aid the simulation of the visual experience. As an inter-disciplinary artist & musician, Oliver's work encompasses a variety of themes explored in his own dynamic neo-expressionist narrative: through releasing electronica records, as well as producing sound installations, mixed media works and paintings.
