ByLwansta is a rapper, producer, art director and graphic designer from South Africa with a heavy emphasis on lyrical content and the importance of storytelling. Through his eloquent songwriting, ByLwansta crafts narratives that fire up his verses with a ferocious flow whilst maintaining an authenticity and honesty in his words. His tracks often take you on a journey into deeply personal life events as he bares his soul through his words. He is the first South African artist to appear on COLORS where he displayed his articulate storytelling with his performance of “Lindiwe”.
Expanding into music production and composition has now allowed ByLwansta to take his aural imagery further as he curates and/or produces instrumentals that act as the most fitting mediums to carry his message as he creates a deeply personal auditory experience. A well thought out design process is always present in any of ByLwansta’s final products and is a constant feature of his work. From very early in his career, graphic design has played a very significant role in Lwandile's music career as ByLwansta, and he often sees and treats ByLwansta as a client with a never-ending brief.
ByLwansta wrote his final Graphic Design research paper on The Significance of Visual Communication on the Consumption of Music in the Digital Age, for which he was awarded a distinction.
